Friday, September 21 - The Week In Pictures

This Week in Pictures:

Monday, September 17:

The kids practice learning the letters of the alphabet, and the letter for today is "H".

"This is a W."

"This is a Y."

The kids make their Hs.

Tuesday, September 18:

Today the kids focused on the letter I.

Wednesday, September 19:

Today the kids did work and a project associated with the letter I. We did a worksheet where we glued tinsel to the letter I to make it look like an Icicle. Then the kids did a project where they created "ice cream" on an ice cream cone and decorated it with "cherries" and "sparkles". The "ice cream" was created from glue and shaving cream (with a dash of food coloring) to make it look very artsy and creative.

Thursday, September 20:

Today the kids focused on the letter J.

I'm still trying to figure out what this game is- It looks like a lot of fun!

Friday, September 21:

Today was the last day of the 1st six-weeks, and also early release day! (Yay.)

"I look fly (yeah), I look good (good)!"

The letter "J"

J is for Jellybeans

Almost time to go home!

Now, the Week in PICTURES:

Monday, September 10th-

This morning, we had a visit from Tatum's First Responders' group- the police department, fire department, and emergency department. The kids got to go outside and listen to each department's job and responsibilities, plus stand on or get inside each of the emergency vehicles.

During P.E., the class played a game similar to what we played as kids- back then, it was called "Slaughter Ball"- Back then, we tried to eliminate each other by hitting people with rubber balls; now, the kids try to eliminate the other team's bowling pins-

Tuesday, September 11th-

Today we took the class on a field trip to Petco in Longview. Our goal was to purchase a Betta Fish for our classroom. We took the kids on a tour of the pet store, saw guinea pigs, hamsters, mice, fish, turtles, and parrots, then purchased our Betta Fish, aquarium, and all the things necessary to take care of our fish.

We named our fish, Rainbow.

Then we took the kids out to the park for a picnic and they ate and played out on the (humongus) playground.

Our aquarium changes colors!

Wednesday, September 12th-

Today the letter of the day was "G"- as in "It's Great to be here!"

Thursday, September 13th-

Friday, September 14th-

Breakfast time!

Today's letter: the letter "H", as in "Help me, I've falling and can't get up!"

Recess time and PE time- With the first graders, we played the game that's similar to slaughter-ball, but it really isn't- Check out the video below:
