The Tatum Eagles lost a heartbreaker in more ways than one to the Gladewater Bears, 28-22. The Bears scored the winning TD with one second left to go in the game on a QB keeper around right end. Even more devastating than the loss itself was the loss of D.D. Brooks for the year to a serious ankle injury. Before the injury, he had rushed for 103 yards on just 4 carries and a TD. Alijah Williams had 53 yards rushing and 2 TDs. On defense, Dane Moore and Williams each had 8 total tackles and Dylan Marquez had 6 tackles. The loss could be attributed to three things: 1. The inability of the Eagles' defense to stop the Bears, who ran 46 total offensive plays to just 12 for the Eagles for the entire game; 2. Bad time mismanagement when the Eagles had a chance to score right before halftime; 3. Another special teams error when the Bears recovered the onside kick, which allowed them to control the ball the entire third quarter.
